If you only listen and say nothing about yourself, that can raise suspicion and distrust, especially if it’s someone you’ve only just met. I try to find a common denominator with another person, so that means revealing that part of me that allows a “me too” moment. If I’m talking about 20% of the time, the other person feels they have found a soul connection, even if it’s minimal. So few people get a chance to talk most of the time; so it IS rare when they are given that opportunity. They love you for it.
